Travis Cary, PGA
I grew up in a small town outside of Salem, Oregon and grew to love the game of golf at the age of 10. My relationship with golf during that time was very formative, and I owe it for getting me to where I am today. This love affair began a winding journey that took me through my high school golf career and then over to the coast of Oregon where I played two years of collegiate golf at Southwestern Oregon CC. Bandon Dunes Golf Resort was our home facility, and it remains my favorite place on earth to this day.
Since then, my passion for the game of golf has turned into my profession. Following my two years of collegiate play, I transferred and later graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in PGA Professional Golf Management and Marketing, earning my Class-A PGA membership in November of 2016. During my time at the University of Idaho, I learned and practiced my theories and methods for the teaching of the golf swing, with help from teaching professionals who have helped multiple PGA and LPGA touring pros.
I served as the Assistant Golf Professional and Director of Instruction at Gold Mountain Golf Club for 8 years, where I gained a true passion for building up golfers and allowing them to enjoy this game we all love. With all of the experience I have gained, I have now transitioned into running my own teaching business headquartered at Gold Mountain GC. Welcome to Travis Cary PGA Golf Instruction!
My main goal through my instruction is to increase your enjoyment of the game by creating a learning environment that is fun, interactive, and easy to understand. Golf is supposed to be fun! Let’s make it happen together.
My main focuses are to:
- Help make your golf swing more effective and repeatable, with an emphasis on pre swing fundamentals, club face control, and the role of cause and effect and how it aids in learning.
- Take your short game to the next level by focusing on fundamentals and decision-making.
- Elevate your understanding of the game to help you make better on course decisions and get the most out of your game.

John Sitton
John Sitton is a lifelong resident of Bremerton and began his career at Gold Mountain in 2003 as a member of the Outside Services Department. After spending two years playing golf for Olympic College, John was promoted to Assistant Professional in 2006 where he honed his teaching skills as head of Junior Golf Programming and Instruction. In 2016, John took over responsibility for the golf department at Gold Mountain as Golf Operations Manager. With nearly 20 years of experience with the game of golf and a tremendous background with Gold Mountain, John enjoys sharing his love for the game with new team members, annual pass holders, and traveling groups and leagues, making every trip to Gold Mountain an exceptional one.
Under the tutelage of Ken Kubitz and Chris Keough, John has developed a keen grasp of Club Based Swing Philosophy allowing all students to understand the golf swing through their awareness of where and what the golf club is doing during the swinging motion. This method draws attention away from their body and towards the implement that actually comes into contact with the golf ball. John’s area of expertise is short game, with emphasis on Putting and Iron play. His three goals as an instructor are:
- For all his students to understand how to make a repeatable motion with the golf club.
- Understand the difference between objective and purpose, as it relates to their golf game.
- To share the game of golf with those they care about.
